Southeast Wins by One Stroke in Mississippi
Philadelphia, MS. - (February 25, 2003) - After two rounds of golf at Dancing Rabbit Golf Course in Philadelphia, Southeast won their first tournament of the year shooting 610 strokes as a team, just edging out Tennessee Tech who shot a 611 for the two day tournament. Kent Phillips and Matt Hillis finished on top for Southeast both finishing tied for sixth place overall. Each had equally solid performances shooting a 75 on the first day and coming back with a 76 the second day. Other top performing teams in the 16-team tournament included Tennessee Tech who finished 2nd behind Southeast Missouri followed by Centenary College in 3rd, Newman University in 4th, and Nicholls State University in 5th. The other golfers competing for Southeast's winning team this weekend were Woody Hill who finished tied for 10th overall, Brian Sheehan finishing tied for 17th, and Jimmy Blose who finished tied for 58th. Hill and Sheehan both shot a 76 on the final day of the tournament. Southeast's Golf team can next be seen in action on March 2nd at Tennessee Martin. |
