Golf Finishes Ninth at Bob Brown Classic in New Orleans Kent Phillips leads Indians with 12th place overall finish.

NEW ORLEANS, La.- The Southeast Missouri State Indian golf team finished ninth place overall at the Bob Brown Classic hosted by the University of New Orleans. Southeast was paced by a 12th place overall finish by Kent Phillips. Ohio Valley Conference foe Tennessee State walked away in first place out of the 14 schools who participated. They bested Bethune-Cookman by one stroke for the title by shooting a combined 294 team score on Tuesday, nine strokes better than Bethune-Cookman. As a team, Southeast finished with scores of 307 and 310 for a team total of 617, two strokes behind OVC foe Eastern Illinois who scored 615. Individually, Adam Auger of Bethune-Cookman won the event with a two round total of 143, one shot better than Matt Willmott of UMKC. Sophomore Kent Phillips was the top finisher for the Indians, shooting rounds of 77 and 74 to finish in a seven-way tie for 12th place, only one point out of 10th place. Woody Hill (155) finished in a tie for 30th with teammate Jimmy Blose (155), Brandon Couch (156) was 42nd and Matt Hillis (165) was 69th. The Indians return home to host the SEMO Four-Ball Invitational on March 24-25 at Kimbeland Country Club in Jackson. |
