Golf Holds One-Stroke Lead At UNO Invite
First-Round Results in PDF Format
Eastover, La. (March 24, 2003)- After 18 holes of golf, the Southeast Missouri State Indian Golf team is in the lead, one stroke up, at the Methodist Sportscare/Bob Brown Invitational hosted by the University of New Orleans. Southeast shot an eight over 295 for the day and stand one stroke up on the host school, New Orleans. Rounding out the top five is Missouri-Kansas City in third, Belmont in fourth, and Tulane in fifth. Southeast senior Woody Hill is tied for fourth place after shooting a first round 71, one under par. Junior Kent Phillips is tied for 8th at a one over 73, while Jimmy Blose and Brian Sheehan are tied at 17th and 24th, respectively at three and four over pars. Sophomore Matt Hillis is tied for 55th at a nine over 81. Tulane's Chris Wheeler leads the field with a five under 67. UMKC's Brent Gallinger is in second at three under, while Adam Barker of Belmont is in third at two under. Nicholls State's Steve Luminais is tied with hill at one under while Andrew Jackson and Roger Welch of Alcorn State and Southern Illinois, respectively are tied at sixth, both at even par. Southeast and the rest of the field will continue the tournament with the final round tomorrow. |
