Southeast Finishes Second at Fourball Tournament shortened due to rainfall
Cape Girardeau, Mo. (March 26, 2002) - The Southeast Missouri State Indian Golf team finished second among five teams at its own SEMO Fourball/Monore Harris Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday. Teams competing in the tournament were SEMO, Bradley, Eastern Illinois, Saint Louis University and Missouri-Kansas City. Southern Illinois was scheduled to compete but did not travel. The teams played 18 holes on Monday, but were limited to nine on Tuesday when the rains came pouring in. Southeast finished with an abbreviated team score of 438, second to Missouri-Kansas City's 431. SLU and EIU finished tied at third with team scores of 447 and Bradley finished in fifth with a team score of 448. UMKC's J.W. VanDenborn used a first-round five-under 66 to secure the individual championship. UMKC's Mike Tanner finished in second with a 107 and SEMO's Woody Hill and SLU's Evan Frederick finished tied for third one shot back at 108. Other notables for the Tribe include Bryan Johnson at 111, Matt Hillis at 112, Jimmy Blose at 112, Brian Sheehan at 115, Brandon Couch at 115, and Mark Horn at 126. Southeast next will compete in the SMS Invitational April 7-9, in Branson. |
