Golf finishes fifth at Billiken Invitational Jimmy Blose leads Indians with fifth-place finish.

Madison, Ill. - Southeast Missouri State's golf team finished fifth overall in the 16-team Billiken Invitational, hosted by Saint Louis University. The tournament was held at Gateway National in Madison, Ill. Junior Jimmy Blose shot an even par 71 in the final round, the second best round of the day, to jump into fifth place with three other golfers. Overall, Blose finished +8 with rounds of 76, 74, 71. Freshman Matt Hillis finished at +10, which was good for 11th. As a team, Southeast finished +56, one stroke behind Ohio Valley Conference foe Eastern Illinois and 16 shots off the lead. Other Southeast finishers were: Woody Hill (T51, +21), Bryan Johnson (T57, +22) and Kent Phillips (T63, +24). Saint Louis University won the team title with a score of +40. Marquette's Nathan Colson was the individual winner at +4. The Billiken Invitational was the final warm-up for the golf team before they participate in the OVC Tournament, which is to be held April 28-29 in Paducah, Ky. |
