Sept. 16, 2003 Southeast golf finished three spots down from their finish at the Harris Fall Classic last week by coming in 10th place out of a 15-team field this past Sunday and Monday at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate tournament at Illinois State's home golf course in Normal, Illinois. Brian Sheehan was Southeast's most outstanding performer yet again, finishing 17th out of 81 total entries into the tournament. Matt Hillis shot a 13 over par for 45th place overall and Kent Phillips a 15 over for the 50th overall place. The site's host team, Illinois State, took first place, shooting one over. They were followed up by St. Ambrose University. They finished six shots back at seven over. Third place belonged to Northern Illinois after it was all said and done, shooting 17 over. Illinois State Redbirds Sophomore Matt Maskel had to share the top overall finish with Joe Demory of St. Ambrose. They both shot four under. Nathan Ruth of De Paul University shot the third best of the 81-player field, just one shot back of the other two at three under. Southeast's next tournament will come in two weeks. They have an off week this week and then travel to Eastern Kentucky for the EKU Colonel Classic at the Arlington Golf Club in Richmond, Kentucky on the 26-28 of September. |
