Southeast Hosts Harris Fall Classic Golf Tournament
Sept. 9, 2004 Cape Girardeau, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri State University golf team will open the fall season by hosting the Harris Fall Classic Tournament at Kimbeland Country Club in Jackson on Monday and Tuesday. The 54-hole tournament will feature 12 collegiate teams including Southern Illinois-Carbondale, Saint Louis, Tennessee-Martin, Missouri Baptist, Morehead State, UMKC, Eastern Illinois, Chicago State, Loyola, Lincoln and two teams from Southeast. "It is the first tournament of the year and so it is tough to pick a favorite," said Southeast golf coach and tournament director Carroll Williams. "SIU, Saint Louis and Morehead State should have good teams and we will have a veteran team that should compete for the title." Southeast will have five letter winners including three seniors who will compete for the top Indian team. Seniors Matt Hillis, Brandon Crouch and Brian Sheehan will be competing in their fourth year of collegiate golf and will be joined by sophomores Zach Decker and Mark Schmitz. "Our players are familiar with Kimbeland and they have experience," Williams said. "The tournament is wide open."
