Cape Girardeau, Mo.(September 11, 2001) - After three rounds of golf at Bent Creek Golf Course, Southeast senior Bryan Johnson took home the gold as he edged out Saint Louis University's Scott Fann by one stroke to win the 2001 Drury Intercollegiate.

Southeast finished 8th overall with a total team score of 914. Evansville led wire to wire and needed to only shoot a 299 in the final round to secure the title. The finished with a final score of 888. The University of Missouri - Kansas City stormed back in the final round after shooting 301, and 302, respectively, and pulled in a 291 to move themselves into second place. St. Louis University, who was third after the first two rounds stayed that way and finished with a score of 897.

Johnson took a nice two under par 70 second round score and improved on that to shoot a final round three under 69 to finish the tournament with a one under 213 and the overall champion. Fann finished second with a par 214 and Eric Steinback of Evansville finished third with a 216 two over par.

Other SEMO golfers were Jimmy Blose with a 228, tied for 28th, Woody Hill with a 235, tied for 46th, Mark Horn with a 239, tied for 59th, Brandon Couch, with a 241 tied for 67th, Kent Phillips with a 243, tied for 69th, Ryan Grigs with a 246, tied for 47th, and Dan Johnson, with a 249, tied for 77th.

Southeast goes to Bloomington Illinois Sept 14-16 to compete in the D.A. Weinberg hosted by Illinois State.
