CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Junior forward/center Missy Whitney (Charleston, Mo./Three Rivers CC) recorded a game-high 24 points and was 11-of-11 from the free throw line as Southeast Missouri State handled visiting Harris-Stowe by a score of 101-78 Tuesday night at the Show Me Center. It marked the first time Southeast has cracked 100-point mark since scoring 107 against Lyon College during the 2004-05 season. The Redhawks even their season record to 2-2 with the win, while the Hornets fall to 2-5 on the year.

Harris-Stowe claimed an early 12-8 lead on a three-pointer from Kanisha Pettis at the 16:04 mark before the Redhawks went on a 22-7 run over seven-plus minutes to capture a 30-19 advantage with 8:30 remaining in the half on a layup by senior center Joiceline Thesing (Partas Sao Carlo, Brazil/Labette County CC). A pair of Whitney free throws later gave Southeast a 40-26 lead at 4:38 mark for its biggest lead of the half. The Hornets closed the half with a 12-6 run to slice their deficit to eight (46-38) entering the halftime break.

A 10-2 scoring drive to open the second half hiked the Redhawks' leading margin to 56-40 that culminated with a layup by junior guard Ashley Lovelady (Elkhart, Ind./Moberly Area CC) at the16:25 mark. After the Hornets closed to within 60-49 on a layup and a pair of free throws by senior Laniya Stevens two minutes later, Southeast then produced a 27-11 scoring run over another seven-plus minute stretch to gain a commanding 87-60 advantage. Thesing and Whitney combined for 17 points during the decisive run. Harris-Stowe would get no closer than 18 points the rest of the way and sophomore forward Rachel Blunt (Dexter, Mo./Dexter) put the Redhawks over the century mark with a jumper with 30 seconds remaining in the game.

In addition to Whitney, four other Southeast players scored in double figures, including two players recording double-doubles. Thesing finished the game with a career-best 15 points and 10 rebounds while equaling a career high with five blocks.
