No. 10 Baylor Captures 81-51 Win Over Redhawks

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Junior Rachel Allison tallied a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds as No. 10 Baylor claimed an 81-51 victory over host Southeast Missouri State tonight in a non-conference contest at the Show Me Center. The Lady Bears improved to 6-0 this season, while the Redhawks dropped their record to 4-3 on the year.

Southeast posted an early 9-4 advantage on a three-pointer from junior guard Tarina Nixon (Gilbert, Ariz./Highland) at the 15:30 mark and a jumper from senior center Missy Whitney (Charleston, Mo./Three Rivers CC) later increased the Redhawks' advantage to 11-5 at the 15:05 mark. After a Nixon layup put the home team ahead by a 14-10 leading margin with 13:27 remaining in the half, Baylor produced a quick 10-0 run in three minutes to capture a 20-14 advantage. The visitors closed the stanza with a 26-6 scoring drive over the final 10-plus minutes to enter intermission with a 46-20 lead behind nine points from senior Angela Tisdale.

A 9-2 run to open the second half handed the Lady Bears a 55-22 lead at the 16:06 mark that culminated with a layup from junior Jhasmin Player. The Redhawks responded with an 11-4 scoring drive that included seven points from junior guard Sonya Daugherty (St. Louis, Mo./Hancock) to slice its deficit to 59-33 with 10:50 left in the game. Southeast could get no closer than 26 points for the rest of the contest.

Nixon finished with 15 points and added four assists to pace the Redhawks, Daugherty produced 11 points and four assists and junior forward Rachel Blunt (Dexter, Mo./Dexter) contributed a season-best 11 points. Whitney notched nine rebounds, seven points and two steals for Southeast.

Tisdale posted 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting with four assists, while Player produced 13 points and a game-best 10 assists for Baylor. Sophomore Danielle Wilson tallied a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds in addition to a game-high six blocks.

The Redhawks are back in action on Sunday, Dec. 2 when they travel to West Lafayette, Ind., for a non-conference contest against Purdue at Mackey Arena with a start time of 1 p.m.
