WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Junior Lakisha Freeman recorded a game-high 17 points, including 10 in the second half, as host Purdue captured a 51-41 win over visiting Southeast Missouri State at Purdue's Mackey Arena. The Boilermakers hiked their season record to 3-5 and the Redhawks saw their record fall to 4-4 on the year.

The visitors claimed an early 4-0 lead in the game's first three minutes on a pair of free throws from junior guard Sonya Daugherty (St. Louis, Mo./Hancock) and a layup by senior center Missy Whitney (Charleston, Mo./Three Rivers CC). Freeman scored five points as Purdue regrouped with a 10-2 scoring drive over a six-minute span that turned into a 10-6 advantage. Back-to-back Southeast steals generated three-pointers for Whitney and senior guard Ashley Lovelady (Elkhart, Ind./Moberly Area CC) in less than a minute to take back the lead at 12-10. After a three-point play from junior Natasha Bogdonova helped the Boilermakers get a 15-12 leading margin with 6:10 left in the half, the Redhawks closed the half with a 7-0 run to go into the half ahead by a score of 19-15.

A three-pointer from Daugherty brought Southeast's leading margin to 22-17 at the 18:42 mark, but a 9-2 run later gave the home team a 26-24 lead that included six points from freshman Keisha Mosely. The Redhawks regained the lead at 31-27 with 13:51 left in the game behind a quick 9-1 scoring drive with five points from freshman guard Lauren Sharpe (Tipp City, Ohio/Tippecanoe). Junior Danielle Campbell then tallied seven points as part of a 12-2 run over six minutes as the Boilermakers reclaimed the lead at 39-33 at the 5:01 mark, but two treys from junior forward Rachel Blunt (Dexter, Mo./Dexter) and a Daugherty layup in a two-minute span sliced the visitors deficit to just a single point (42-41) with less than three minutes left. Freeman then sealed the game for Purdue by scoring six of the team's final nine points.

Daugherty finished with 11 points, a career-best six steals and a career high-tying six assists to lead Southeast. Blunt and Sharpe each scored eight points, while sophomore forward Kaitlyn Peddie (Brisbane, Australia/Queensland Tech) grabbed six rebounds, including four on the offensive end. Whitney and Lovelady contributed five points, respectively, for the Redhawks.

Campbell produced a double-double of 12 rebounds and 10 points with five assists and four blocks for the Boilermakers, while junior Lauren Mioton added eight caroms and seven points. Bogdonova posted seven points and six boards in addition to senior Kalika France recording eight rebounds, four points and four assists.

Southeast opens Ohio Valley Conference play at the Show Me Center on Thursday, Dec. 6 against Tennessee State with a start time of 5 p.m.
