White Wins Second-Straight OVC Award

Brentwood, Tenn. (January 14, 2003) - For the second-straight week, Southeast Missouri State University junior guard Kenja White has been named the Ohio Valley Conference's Newcomer of the Week for the week of January 14 as announced by the league office today in Brentwood.

White scored 14 and 18 points this week against Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky. She helped the Otahks to a team record 16 three pointers in the win over Morehead.

White was 7-10 from the free-throw line in the loss to Eastern Kentucky. On the week she tallied nine rebounds, eight assists, and seven steals in two games.

White is currently first on the team in scoring with her 14.3 mark as she is averaging 18.3 points per game in conference play. She has scored in double figures in four-straight games.

White and the Otahkians will continue OVC play this weekend as they play host to both Murray State and Tennessee-Martin. The Murray State game will be at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and the UTM game will be at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both games will be played at the Show Me Center. Every Otahkian game can be heard live on KAPE-1550 AM.
