Southeast Missouri State Otahkians (10-6, 3-3)
vs. Murray State Lady Racers (7-8, 2-3)
Game 17 * January 19, 2002 * 4:30 p.m. CT
Regional Sports Even Center (8,500) * Murray, Ky.

About Southeast: Southeast came from behind at the half for the second straight game to defeat UT-Martin by a 64-59 margin on Thursday night. Two LaShelle Porter free-throws, a Pam Iversen block and a Veronica Benson steal and layup helped ice the Otahkian victory in the final minute of the game as Southeast improved to 3-3 in the OVC and 4-2 on the road this season heading into Saturday's Murray State contest.

The victory was the second straight for Southeast after dropping three straight conference games at home last week. It also put the Otahkians back into a tie for third place in the league.

Murray State lost a heartbreaker to Eastern Illinois on Thursday night when EIU's Pam O'Connor hit a layup with only 14 seconds left to give the Panthers a 59-57 victory over the Lady Racers. It was Murray's first loss at home this season. After winning its first two conference games over UT-Martin and Tennessee State, Murray has dropped its last three league contests. Senior forward Susan Tackett leads MSU in scoring with 13.2 per game.

For Southeast, senior center Pam Iversen, who has been much for consistent since removing a protective face mask she wore for the first half of the season scored 15 points and grabbed 12 boards in the victory over Martin. She needs only five points to become the 12th Otahkian in school history to score 1,000 points for her career. She is also only four blocks from taking over 6th place on the SEMO rebounding list and three blocks from 3rd place on that list.

The Murray game can be heard in Cape Girardeau on KAPE 1550-AM starting at 4:15 p.m. Jeff Brightwell will have the play-by-play. Otahkian fans outside the area can access the Murray State broadcast through the Murray website at http://www.goracers.com. Follow the live audio link on the left side of the page.

Following tonight's game, Southeast will head home for two contests, including an important OVC tilt with Austin Peay next Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
