Chase Named OVC Player of the Week Junior forward averaged 19.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.3 steals per game in Southeast's three victories.
Jan. 21, 2002 BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - After helping Southeast Missouri to a trio of victories last week, junior forward Lori Chase was named Ohio Valley Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday. In wins over Tennessee State, UT-Martin and Murray State, Chase averaged 19.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.3 steals per game. Chase started the week with an outstanding game against Tennessee State, where she scored a season-high 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, her second double-double of the season. Chase was 9-14 from the field and an outstanding 12-15 from the line. Chase made more free-throws than the entire Lady Tiger team attempted. Chase finished the week with 11 points and seven rebounds at UT-Martin and 16 points, six rebounds and tied a career-high four steals versus Murray State on Saturday. Chase currently leads the team in scoring at 16.2 points per game and ranks second in rebounding at 6.4 per contest. In conference play she has increased her point production to 17.9 points and 6.6 caroms. This is the second time in her career Chase has been selected as the OVC Player of the Week. She was honored on January 29 of last season. |
