Southeast Missouri State Otahkians (12-7, 4-4) About Southeast: Seemingly in control against Austin Peay on Saturday, the Otahkians let a 10-point lead with four minutes left vanish, as Southeast was outscored 14-0 by the Lady Govs to close the game. The loss dropped Southeast out of a two-way tie for third place in the Ohio Valley to fifth place right behind Austin Peay and Morehead State. Junior Lori Chase, fresh off earning OVC Player of the Week honors a week ago, posted her second consecutive strong week, averaging 16.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 blocks. Chase has scored in double figures in 34 of her last 38 games over the past two seasons. Tennessee State enters Thursday's contest having lost five straight games and 13 of their last 14 contests. TSU owns victories over UT-Martin and Lipscomb this season. They are led by LaRissa Thomas, who ranks third in the OVC in both scoring and rebounding. For the Otahkians, senior center Pam Iversen is only three assists, two steals and a block away from reaching a milestone in becoming only the second Southeast player to record 1,000 points, 700 rebounds, 150 assists, 100 steals and 100 blocks in a career. She will also become only the 2nd player in the history of the OVC to accomplish this milestone at the Division I level. Thursday's game starts a four-game road swing for Southeast that will see the Otahks battle the conference's top three teams, each of whom defeated Southeast at the Show Me Center earlier this month. Southeast currently has a 6-4 record in the month of January. Last year, the Otahks completed a 6-2 January stretch. |
