Game Notes in PDF Format
Cape Girardeau, Mo. (January 31, 2003) - The Southeast Missouri State Otahkian Basketball team will look for its first win since 1999 against Tennessee Tech this Saturday night as they play host to the Golden Eaglettes at 5:30 p.m. in the Show Me Center. Southeast Missouri is 11-6 overall and 5-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference. They are coming off an 18-point victory at Eastern Illinois. After scoring a season low-45 points, they nearly equaled that in the first half en-route to an 82-64 victory over the Panthers. Southeast is being led by junior guard Kenja White's 14.3 points per game. White is third on the team in three-point percentage with a 30 percent average. Senior forward Lori Chase is second in scoring with a 13.4 mark and is first on the team in rebounding and and second in three point shooting with 5.7 rebounds per game and 38 percent from behind the arc. Junior forward Carina Souza is fourth in scoring with a 11.1 per game average, as she, White, and Chase are the only Otahks to start every single game this season. Junior guard Yashika Sidbury is third in scoring with 11.2 points per game and continues to lead the team in free-throw shooting averaging 91 percent from the line. She ranks among the league leaders in that category, as well. She leads Southeast in three-point shooting with a 38 percent mark from behind the arc. The Golden Eaglettes are being led this season by Emily Christian. The freshman forward is averaging 12.8 points per game and 6.4 rebounds per contest. Arleigh Brackin and Tynisha Alexander are averaging 8.6 and 8.4 points respectively. Tech averages 65.1 points per game while giving up 66.2. They are shooting 42 percent from the field and 32 percent from behind the arc, while making 72 percent of their free-throws. They lead the OVC in home attendance. Tech was a preseason No. 4 pick in the league, but is having its slowest start in recent memory in the OVC. Through six games, Tech is just 2-4 and is on the verge of missing the tournament for the first time ever. After this game, Southeast will play host to the Lady Tigers of Tennessee State University on Monday at 7:00 p.m. at the Show Me Center. |
