Tatiana Conceicao Earns 3rd OVC Player of the Week Honor

Jan. 31, 2006

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - (Tuesday, January 31, 2006) The Ohio Valley Conference yesterday announced that Tatiana Conceicao (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Western Nebraska CC) is the Player of the Week for the week of January 29. For Conceicao it is the third time this season she has garnered this OVC recognition as she was named Player of the Week on December 5, 2005 and January 9, 2006.

Conceicao averaged 20.0 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game as the Redhawks (12-7, 9-3) went 2-0 last week. She led all players in scoring in those contests.

Conceicao had a game high 19 points 13 of which came in the first half.  She shot 7-13 from the field including 3-4 from beyond the arc.  Her three three-pointers were a career high. She also grabbed six rebounds and had a game high three assists.

Against Murray State Conceicao scored a game high 21 points shooting 2-4 from three-point land.  Tatiana added 5 rebounds and 2 steals for the game.

For the week Conceicao shot 50-percent from the field, averaged 2.0 assists per game and 1.5 steals per game.

On the season, Conceicao leads the team in scoring (19.3 ppg), rebounds (7.1 rpg) and free throw shooting (.781), while ranking fourth in field goal percentage (.487) and third in three-point percentage (.357).  Her 19.3 ppg ranks second in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Conceicao was named Preseason OVC Player of the Year before the start of the season.  Last season, Conceicao earned OVC Player of the Year honors despite ever being named as Player of the Week.  She did, however, garner Newcomer of the Week honors on nine occasions in 2004-05.

Conceicao and the Redhawks return to the court on Saturday, February 4 when they host Tennessee-Martin at the Show Me Center. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m.
