Chase Named OVC Player of the Week

Brentwood, Tenn. (February 4, 2003) - Southeast Missouri State University Senior forward Lori Chase has been named the Ohio Valley Conference's Player of the Week today for the week of Feb. 4 as announced by the league office in Brentwood.

Chase garners her first award of the season and is the first Otahk to be named Player of the Week. She is the fifth Otahkian to receive weekly honors and it is the seventh week an Otahk has won an award.

Chase scored nearly 30 percent of Southeast's total points this week as she averaged 23.3 points and 8.7 boards per contest. The senior from St. Louis helped Southeast to a 3-0 record last week as she shot 56 percent from the field and 53 percent from behind the arc.

She scored 20 points and had eight rebounds against Eastern Illinois. Chase then followed that effort up with a 32 point, seven rebound game against Tennessee Tech as the Otahks won for the first time in nine tries against Tech. Her final game of the week saw her come through with 18 points and 11 rebounds. She was the leading scorer in each game this week.

Chase has scored 278 points on the season and with her 1,097 career points she had coming into the season she has 1,375 on her career, putting her just 14 points away from fourth place and 88 points from third on the all-time list at Southeast.

The Otahkians will be in action again this weekend as they play host to Eastern Kentucky on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and Morehead State on Monday at 7 p.m. The team currently has an 11-game home winning streak.
