Cape Girardeau, Mo. (February 8, 2004)- The Southeast women's basketball team loves playing in the Show Me Center as they have gone 7-1 so far this season and look for another home victory this Tuesday February 10. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m. as the Otahks host Eastern Illinois. The teams met earlier this season in Charleston, Ill. on January 13. Southeast started out slow, but came alive to derail the 'Cats,' 79-66. SEMO leads the all-time series 12-7, including victories in the last six meetings.

Scouting Southeast...The Otahkians (11-10, 6-4 OVC) returned to the Show Me Center last week to host conference rivals UTM and Murray State. Southeast blew past UTM on Thursday night, dealing the Skyhawks an 83-60 defeat. The squad followed that performance up with a decisive 74-60 victory of Murray State on Saturday afternoon.

Leading the way for the Otahks on the season is senior guard Kenja White with 11.3 points per outing. Juniors Sami Jo Cotton and Chandra Brown are following closely behind netting 10.5 and 9.7 points per game. Senior Yashika Sidbury is steadily climbing up the scoring ranks as she now averages 9.2 points per outing after her season-best 20-point performance against Murray on Saturday.

The Otahkians are definitely trey-shooters this season. The team has made 151 three-pointers averaging 7.2 three's per game, ranking 17th in the nation. Cotton has lit up for 46 three-pointers on the season ranking her fourth in the conference with 2.2 per game. Cotton has now moved in eighth place in Southeast history for three-pointers made in one season. She also ranks third in the conference in three-point field goal percentage netting 39.3 percent. Teammate Yashika Sidbury has netted 31 on the season and is tied for fourth in Southeast history for three-pointers with 82 career three-pointers in just her second season with the Otahks.

Scouting Eastern Illinois...Last week the Lady Panthers (6-15, 3-7 OVC) lost two contests at home. They suffered a 70-62 blow to Murray on Thursday and a 70-57 defeat at the hands of Tennessee-Martin as they flip-flopped teams with Southeast on the week.

Providing an outstanding inside presence for the Lady Panthers is junior center Pam O'Connor. She leads the squad with 16.3 points per outing, as she is shooting 58.7 percent from the field and bringing down six boards per game. O'Connor is the league's fifth leading scorer, while ranking second in field goal percentage. Guards Lauren Dailey and Megan Sparks round out the 'Cats' double-digit scorers as they average 11.5 and ten points per game.

As a squad, EIU leads the OVC in assists per game averaging 17.8 per contest. Freshman guard Megan Casad leads the squads in assists with 4.6 per contest, ranking her first in the OVC just edging out Southeast's Sarah Costello.

Up next...The squad hits the road for a short one-game road trip. The Otahkians head to Nashville, Tenn. to face the Tennessee State Lady Tigers on February 14. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m.
