Southeast Missouri State Otahkians (12-11, 4-8)
vs. Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks (7-16, 5-7)
Game 24 * February 14, 2002 * 5:30 p.m. CT
Show Me Center (7,000) * Cape Girardeau, Mo.

About Southeast: The Southeast Missouri State Otahkians return to the friendly confines of the Show Me Center after suffering through a brutual four-game road trip that saw Southeast drop all four games. Although Southeast dropped all four games, Coach Ed Arnzen thought his team's effort against Eastern Kentucky on Saturday was great and the team has come together more now than at any other point of the season.

Thursday's UT-Martin game is a must-win for the Otahks, as UTM sits tied for fifth place with Murray State, the Otahks Saturday opponent. Southeast won this season's earlier meeting, 64-59, and will hold the tiebreaker over the Skyhawks if the two team's are tied at the end of the regular season.

UTM is coming off an upset victory over defending league champion Tennessee Tech on Saturday. Martin was able to limit Tech to only 33.3% shooting and used a pair of 13-0 runs to seal the victory. Last season, UTM was the only team to defeat TTU in the regular season.

Southeast junior forward Lori Chase reached a milestone on Saturday at EKU, when she scored her 1,000th career point in the second half. With her continued scoring pace, she should become the 3rd all-time leading scorere in Othakian history by the conclusion of her senior season next year.

In her four career games vs. UTM, senior Veronica Benson is averaging 13.5 points & 6.0 rebound, 3.25 assists and 4.0 steals.

The UTM game will be the first of three games at home, which concludes next Monday night with senior night and will also mark the last home game in the 19 year coaching career of Ed Arnzen.

The broadcast can be heard of KAPE 1550-AM in Cape Girardeau with Jeff Brightwell calling the play-by-play. Fans outside the Cape area can access the Skyhawk broadcast via their athletic website at UTMSports.com. Follow the game-day live audio broadcast on the right side of the page.
