Women's Hoops Travel to Murray For OVC Contest

Cape Girardeau, Mo. (February 14, 2003) - The Southeast Missouri State Otahkian basketball team will be in action again this Saturday as they travel to Murray to take on the Lady Racers of Murray State. Tip off is slated for 4 p.m. Southeast is coming off a disappointing loss at the hands of the Mastodons of Indian-Purdue, Fort Wayne in overtime Wednesday night, 90-87. Senior forward Lori Chase led Southeast with 23 points, 10 rebounds as she went over the 1,400 point plateau and slipped into fourth place on the all-time scoring list at Southeast with 1,409 points, passing Sherri Mitchell, who previously held fourth place. The Otahks are being led by Chase. She is first in scoring and rebounds with 14.2 and 6.1 per game marks. She is second in three-point percentage with her 36 percent mark. Junior guard Kenja White's 14.0 points per game is second on the team. She is third on the team in three-point percentage with a 29 percent average. Junior forward Carina Souza is fourth in scoring with a 12.0 per game average, as she, White, and Chase are the only Otahks to start every single game this season. Junior guard Yashika Sidbury is fourth in scoring with 10.7 points per game and continues to lead the team in free-throw shooting averaging 89 percent from the line and is first in three-point shooting with a 38 percent mark. The Lady Racers are being led by senior forward Beth Schnakenberg. She has started in all 21 games this season and is averaging a league-high 17.6 points per game. She is pulling down a team-high 6.5 rebounds per contest and is shooting 41 percent from the field. Lori Trumblee adds help in the paint for the Lady Racers as she is averaging 10.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. She shoots nearly 50 percent from the field while shooting 73 percent from the field. Brittany Park, Lindsay Cornn and Khadija Head average 8.2, 6.8 and 6.6 points respectively. The Lady Racers as a team average just 60.7 points per game while giving up 65.9 per contest. They are shooting 39 percent from the field and 34 percent from behind the arc. They average 68 percent at the line and are being out rebounded by a margin of 4.2 per game. Southeast will next be in action on Monday as they travel to Martin, Tennessee to take on the Skyhawks of Tennessee-Martin at 7 p.m. |
