Cape Girardeau, Mo. (February 25, 2003) - The Southeast Missouri State Otahkian basketball team will travel to Cookeville, Tenn this Thursday to take on the Golden Eaglettes of Tennessee Tech in a crucial OVC match-up that will decide tournament order.

Southeast is coming off another heartbreaking last second loss this time to the OVC Regular Season Champ Austin Peay Lady Govs 80-78. Southeast led for all but nine seconds of the game, as with just that to go, Peay senior Brooke Armistead made one of two free throws to take a two-point advantage. Junior guard Kenja White had a chance to tie the game with free-throw's of her own, but missed the second attempt.

The Otahks are being led by senior forward Lori Chase. She is first in scoring and rebounds with 13.4 and 6.0 per game marks. She is second in three-point percentage with her 33 percent mark. White's 13.2 points per game is second on the team. She is third on the team in three-point percentage with a 28 percent average. Junior forward Carina Souza is fourth in scoring with a 11.9 per game average, as she, White, and Chase are the only Otahks to start every single game this season.

Junior forward Yashika Sidbury is fourth in scoring with 10.7 points per game and continues to lead the team in free-throw shooting averaging 85 percent from the line and is first in three-point shooting with a 38 percent mark.

Tech leads the series 21-5 and had won the last seven meetings in a row until Southeast won earlier this year at the Show Me Center. Tech is is 8-2 in the last ten meetings between the two teams. Last season, Tech took both meetings between the teams.

The Golden Eaglettes are being led this season by Emily Christian. The freshman forward is averaging 16.2 points per game and 6.8 rebounds per contest. Arleigh Brackin, Jennifer Simpson and Tynisha Alexander are averaging 8.5, 8.5 and 8.2 points respectively.

Tech averages 66.2 points per game while giving up 66.7. They are shooting 43 percent from the field and 33 percent from behind the arc, while making 73 percent of their free-throws. They lead the OVC in home attendance.

Tech was a preseason No. 4 pick in the league, but is having its slowest start in recent memory in the OVC. Through 14 OVC games, Tech is just 5-9. They most likely will finish as the sixth seed in the conference tournament.

The Otahkians will be in action next this Saturday as they finish off the regular season at Tennessee State on March 1 at 5:30 p.m.
