Redhawks Will Honor Three Seniors Tomorrow

Feb. 25, 2005

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - (Friday, February 25, 2005) In the immortal "Romeo and Juliet" play William Shakespeare wrote the famous line; "Parting is such sweet sorrow". Juliet says this to her loved Romeo as they say goodnight. Tomorrow evening the Redhawks women's basketball program and their fans will say the same as they honor three outstanding student-athletes as they play in their final regular season game in a Redhawks jersey.

Chandra Brown (Louisville, KY/Southeastern Illinois CC), Brandi Russia (Cincinnati, OH/Northeastern Oklahoma A&M) and Miah Shelford (Auckland, New Zealand/Northeastern Oklahoma A&M) will be honored after their game against Tennessee-Martin, before the men's basketball team tip-off at 7:30 p.m.

These three seniors have served as the cornerstone to this years record-breaking squad. Under their leadership the Redhawks have compiled one the best seasons in Southeast women's basketball history and the best season since jumping up to the Division I ranks.

"I can't even begin to say how important these young women have been to our program," said Head Coach B.J. Smith. "It has been an honor to be their coach and see them become the great individuals that they are. It would mean a lot to them to go out on top and with the support of all our fans."

The seniors and the Redhawks will tip-off against the visiting Skyhawks at 5:00 p.m. at the Show Me Center.
