CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State University Director of Athletics John Shafer announced Tuesday that John Ishee's contract will not be renewed. Ishee spent five seasons as the Redhawks head women's basketball coach.

"We have decided not to renew the contract of John Ishee, which expires April 30, 2011," said Shafer. "I want to thank John for his service to Southeast Missouri State University and wish him well in any future endeavors."

Marcus Payne was named acting head coach and a national search will begin immediately.

The Redhawks finished the 2010-11 campaign at 8-21 overall and 4-14 in the Ohio Valley Conference. Ishee compiled a 77-74 record at Southeast and led the Redhawks to back-to-back conference championships (2006-07, 2007-08). Southeast advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2007 and the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) in 2008. In addition, Ishee was named the OVC Coach of the Year during the 2006-07 season.
