Redhawks Women's Basketball Signs Lesley Adams

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Redhawks women's basketball Head Coach John Ishee has announced the signing of Lesley Adams to a National Letter of Intent (NLI). She is the fifth signee by the program for the 2008-2009 season.

Adams is a native of St. Louis, Missouri that will transfer from Mineral Area Community College in Park Hills, Mo. The 6-2 forward/center will have two years of eligibility remaining when she arrives on campus.

Under former Southeast Missouri State alum Gary Koch, Adams started in every game for the Cardinals in two seasons. This past season she averaged 8.8 points per game, 1.2 steals per game and led the team in rebounding with 7.4 per game.

A First Team All Region XVI selection she recorded five double-doubles in 2007-08 season including a 20 point 15 rebound game against Olney Central College. She scored a career-high 21 points on 8-15 shooting from the field and a perfect 5-5 from the charity stripe while collecting 10 caroms against State Fair Community College. That game was one of eight games in which she recorded 10 or more rebounds.

Her freshman season she averaged 7.4 ppg and a team-high 7.9 rpg.

Adams played her prep ball at Career Academy High School in St. Louis, Mo. Under the tuteledge of Martin Jenkins she averaged 5.0 ppg and a team-best 8.3 rpg her senior season.

Adams is the fourth front-line player that Coach Ishee has signed for next season joining fellow junior college rivals and fellow transfers Trevonna Cannon and Victoria Smith and prep signee Amber Holmes as players over six feet. Bianca Beck, a prep star from Incarnate Word Academy in St. Louis, Mo. is projected to play point guard.
