2002-03 Otahkian Basketball Schedule

Cape Girardeau, Mo. (August 19, 2002) - The 2002-03 Southeast Missouri Women's Basketball schedule has been released and promises to be tough, but bring excitement to Otahkian Basketball fans.

The team will start the season with two home exhibition games including one against Team Goldstar out of St. Louis and against Division II Southern Illinois - Edwardsville. They then open the season at home against Henderson State out of Arkansas before traveling to Southwest Missouri and Wisconsin - Green Bay.

Southeast plays a tough schedule this season with the highlight being a trip to the national runner-up from a season ago, the Oklahoma Sooners. The schedule doesn't get any easier as the ladies will play at Saint Louis, Southwest Missouri, and Wisconsin-Green Bay. Coach B.J. Smith believes the tough schedule will help the team in the long run.

"The schedule is tough in two ways as in we are playing tough teams, and we have a really tough road portion," Smith said. "However, it could end up good for us because we have to play the tough teams to find out what kind of squad we are and have to beat the tough teams to be recognized like we want to be."

Southeast will start the exhibition season on November 8, and begin the regular season on November 22.
