CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -

TIP-OFF: Southeast Missouri State women's basketball begins preparation for the 2007-08 season with an exhibition game Thursday night against 2007 NAIA Division I Tournament participant Auburn-Montgomery at the Show Me Center with the tip-off set for 5 p.m. The AUM contest will be the lone exhibition for the Redhawks, who will start the regular season with two home games in a four-day stretch. It is also Southeast's first exhibition game under head coach John Ishee.

SCOUTING THE REDHAWKS: Southeast returns eight letterwinners and four starters from last season's team that posted a school-best Division I mark of 24-8 which included winning its second consecutive Ohio Valley Conference regular-season and tournament titles in addition to another NCAA Tournament appearance. Among the returnees are Preseason All-OVC picks Sonya Daugherty (14.2 ppg) and Missy Whitney (13.2 ppg, 7.8 rpg) along with junior guard Tarina Nixon (11.1 ppg, 3.3 apg) and senior guard Ashley Lovelady (10.1 ppg, 2.3 apg). Junior forward Rachel Blunt will look to make an impact this year.

SCOUTING THE LADY SENATORS: Auburn-Montgomery welcomes back eight letterwinners from last season's 28-6 squad that finished 14th in the NAIA Division I national rankings and advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2007 NAIA Division I Tournament. Senior guard Brittany Moore is the lone returning starter for the Lady Senators after averaging 9.0 points, 3.7 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game last year, while junior center Destiny Dulin produced 3.5 points and 2.3 boards a contest in the middle for AUM in 2006-07. Sophomore forward Haley McIntyre returns to the team after sitting out last season and she averaged 9.8 points a game in 2006-06. Head Coach Steve Crotz enters his 12th year at the helm at Auburn-Montgomery in which he has posted a 271-99 record with the Lady Senators.

SERIES HISTORY: This will be the first-ever meeting between Southeast and Auburn-Montgomery.

REDHAWKS VS. ALABAMA SCHOOLS: The Redhawks have a 14-4 lifetime advantage in games played against schools from the state of Alabama. Southeast has tallied a 9-2 record against Samford, a 5-1 ledger over Jacksonville State and an 0-1 mark against Troy. Southeast produced a 5-0 mark last season against Alabama teams.

EXHIBITION SUCCESS: Southeast has produced an 9-0 mark in exhibition contests since the 2001-02 season, which includes a 4-0 record against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville. Last season, the Redhawks had five players score in double figures in an 87-61 win over eventual NAIA Division I champion Lambuth at the Show Me Center.

UP NEXT: The Redhawks open the 2007-08 season at the Show Me Center on Nov. 10 against Tulsa from Conference USA with a start time of 7 p.m.
