Tiffanne Ryan's Hawaii Journal and Photo Gallery

Dec. 9, 2004

Junior Guard Tiffanne Ryan kept a journal during the women's basketball team's trip to Hawaii to participate in the Waikiki Beach Marriott Invitational.

Tuesday, December 7, 2004: Day 1

Wow! So this morning we all woke up at 4 a.m.! Our bus was scheduled to leave the Show Me Center at 5 a.m., but it was way late!

We didn't pull out until 6:20 a.m. and our flight was at 9 a.m.!

Somehow we made it on time (thanks to our driver).

When we finally got to the airport the funniest thing happened. We were all rushing to check our bags and "Tati" (Tatianna Conceicao) got locked in the bathroom on the bus!! It was hilarious!! Coach B.J. came to her rescue after about 5 minutes and finally got her out. We had a short lay-over in Denver and then we took-off for our 7 hour flight to Hawaii.

A bunch of us were lucky enough to get 3 seats to ourselves. So, needless to say, most of us slept a majority of the time. Some stayed-up and watched "Shark Tale and Elf", while other very studious girls actually did homework (Julie and Rachel).

When we got to Hawaii we practiced, but it was short and sweet.

The temperature (80 degrees!) and time adjustments were a bit harsh, but who's going to complain; we're on the beach in December!!!

We got a bite to eat after practice. Coach Emerick and Patrick (Clark) our sports information guy went searching for a restaurant with a nice salad selection, but couldn't find anything so we settled for Subway.

Because Hawaii is 4 hours behind, when it came time for bed we were all more than ready.

Goodnight and Aloha!

Wednesday, December 8, 2004: Day 2

Well, after a good nights rest Julie (Sweetin), Nat (Purcell) and I were too excited to sleep-in so we got up at 8:30 a.m. (12:30 p.m. CST), and took a walk along Waikiki Beach.

We had a short film session at 10:00 a.m. and then the whole team, coaches, Jill (Schnepel) our trainer and Kevin (Phillips) our radio guy walked to the beach together.

We got all decked out in leis, flowers and parrots!!! Then we took team pictures along the beach.

We had another short, but intense practice after the beach.

After lunch and showering we headed off to study hall, where Hawaii was so nice to welcome us into their Student-Athlete Academic Center, but not before being pulled over by a cop. Our driver ran a stop sign! There was a huge palm tree blocking the sign so no one saw it (at least that's what our driver will tell you).

That brings us to where we are now; sitting in study hall preparing for next weeks finals and eagerly awaiting tomorrows game!

I have to go I'll write again tomorrow!!
