Normal, Ill. (January 13, 2002) - The Southeast Missouri State Gymnastics squad lost its second meet of the season as they fell to the Redbirds of Illinois State University in Normal, Ill. Sunday, by a score of 191.400 to 188.625.

Sophomore Ashley Godwin continued her hot start, as she was second in the All-Around with a score of 38.850 and won the Vault with the score of 9.750. Her vault score tied her career-high on that event.

Junior Amy Cole finished fourth in the All-Around with a score of 37.575 behind a career-high Bars routine that garnered a 9.800. Other scores included freshman Katie Bloom with a 9.650 on the vault, and sophomore Jacklyn Doebbler had a 9.600 on the Floor.

Illinois State was led by Denise Houda as she captured the All-Around title with a overall score of 38.950 edging out Godwin by a tenth of a point. She won the Beam and Bars with scores of 9.700 and 9.850, respectively.

Southeast is next in action this Friday as they play host to Northern Illinois and Wisconsin - La Crosse at 7 p.m. in Houck Field House. They also travel to Columbia, Mo, this Sunday to take on the Tigers of Missouri in a dual at 2 p.m. in the Hearnes Center.
