CAPE GIRARDEAU - The Southeast Missouri State women's gymnastics team scored the 10th best score in school history to down the Falcons of Bowling Green 194.175-191.425 Friday night, to remain undefeated in the 2004 season.

The Otahkians won three of four events, and won in dominating fashion for the second week in a row. Katie Bloom, who finished tied for second in the all-around with teammate Ashley Godwin, won the vault competition with a 9.800. Bloom would go on to finish with an all-around score of 39.100, the highest of her career.

Although Southeast was edged out 48.275-48.225 in the vault competition, the Otahkians took control in the remaining three events. Led by senior Ashley Godwin's 9.850, Southeast scored a team score of 48.500 on the uneven bars. Godwin's score was the ninth best in school history.

The Otahks pulled away from Bowling Green on beam, as sophomore Tara Boldt edged out Godwin for the top beam score. Boldt posted a 9.850, to lead Southeast to a team score of 48.850-fourth best in school history.

To close out the competition, Southeast performed extraordinary on floor. Junior Alexis Traylor wowed the crowd with a scintillating floor routine. Her score of 9.875 was a personal-best, and good enough to win the competition. Southeast finished with a team floor score of 48.600.

Southeast will try to keep their perfect record in tact as they head to the Columbia, Mo., to take on the No. 6 ranked University of Missouri. Southeast will try to tame the Tigers Sunday at 2 p.m.

The next home meet for Southeast will be Friday at 7 p.m. at Houck Field House against Hamline University.
