Flames Snaps Redhawks Gymnastics Streaks

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - (Saturday, January 29, 2005) Tom Farden will have to wait till the Midwest Independent Conference Championships to get his win over the University of Illinois-Chicago Flames. The Flames defeated the Redhawks, 192-575 - 192.275 in Houck Field House Saturday afternoon.

The Flames (2-4, 1-0 MIC) snapped the Redhawks (2-1, 2-1 MIC) dual home winning streak and their dual winning streak. It also extended the Flames winning streak over Southeast to six-straight duals.

Both teams split the events a two apiece, but the Flames performance proved to be the deciding factor.

The Flames took the first four spots on the beam led by Jessie Jaworowicz (9.875). Tara Boldt (Lakeville, Minn./ T.A.G.S) finished tied for fourth with a score of 9.750.
 

 

Boldt had her third straight solid meet. She tied for the all-around title with Jackie Jaworowicz with a score of 38.875, the second-straight meet she has won all-around honors.

The Redhawks had two individual champions in the meet.

Mindi Lineweber (Lincoln, Neb./ N.S.G.) won tied Stacey Magiera on the bars with a score of 9.725. Lineweber's score set a new personal best for the freshman standout.

Alexis Traylor (St. Charles, Mo./ All American) won the floor routine with a score of 9.800.

Boldt finished tied for second on the floor (9.775) and had two third place finishes on both vault (9.650) and bars (9.700) to go with her fourth place finish on the beam.

Other top finishers for the Redhawks were Katie Bloom (Snellville, Ga./ Gwinnett Gymnastics Center) who finished tied with Boldt on the vault (9.650) and Natalie Watts (Pasco, Wash./ Mid Columbia Gymnastics Academy) who also finished tied with Boldt on the bars (9.700).

Lexie Hein (Appleton, Wis./ LaFleur's Gymnastics) finished fourth in the all-around with a career-high 37.8750.

The Redhawks will travel to Denton, Texas for a tri-meet against host Texas Women's and BYU on February 5. Start time for the meet is 7:00 p.m.
