CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - (Friday, February 2nd) Southeast's record improved to 10-1, 5-0 MIC as they won the Gershon/McLellan Invitational Friday evening scoring a 190.850. UW-La Crosse finished second (182.050) followed up by UW-Oshkosh (177.925), Winona State (177.350), UW-Stout (176.425) and UW-Eau Claire (172.950).

Southeast had a rough go of things in the Invite, but captured first place in every event as a team as well as individually.

The Redhawks were able to put a nice vault together as they set a new season high (48.1) and were led by sophomore Sandra Blake (Tri-Cities, Wash./Mid-Columbia) who won the individual title tying her season high 9.8. Freshman Rikara Turner (Hastings, Min./Twin City Twisters) took second as she tallied a season high 9.675.

On bars, Southeast took the top three spots and scored 47.55 as a team. Freshmen Amber Garlotte (Lee's Summit, Mo./Eagle Gymnastics) and Bryanna Wong (Parkville, Mo./Edge Gymnastics) earned their first individual title of the season scoring 9.55. They were followed by Turner (9.525) and Blake (9.475) who placed second and third respectively.

Blake took home her second individual title of the night on the beam as she scored 9.7 and the team scored 47.35. Teammates Jena Nguyen (Sioux Falls, S.D./All-American) and Wong finished third and fourth respectively.

The Redhawks pulled together as a team on the floor and registered a score of 47.850 as Nguyen and Blake tied for the individual title with 9.7. Alison Ezell (Kansas City, Kan./Alpha Omega) and Wong tied for second scoring 9.55.

Last week's MIC Gymnast of the Week, Blake, took home her first all-around title of the season with a 38.675 followed by Turner in second with 37.825.

"We have to transition our hard work into better results in our meet at Mizzou," said head coach Tom Farden. "We will fine tune things in practice this week".

The Missouri Invite will take place Friday, February 9th in Columbia, Mo. with a start time of 7:00 p.m.
