CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. - (Friday, February 9, 2007) Southeast gymnastics turned in a respectable performance as they lost to No. 19 Missouri, 194.775 to 192.700, in front of a crowd of 6197 at the Hearnes Center Friday night in Columbia, Mo. Spectators were treated to a fascinating event in which gymnastics and wrestling took place simultaneously.

"Gymnastics and wrestling together make for an interesting event," said head coach Tom Farden. "It was pretty cool".

The Redhawks started off a little slow on the bars as they tallied a team total 48.0 and Maureen Grimaldi (Kansas City, Mo./Eagle Gymnastics), Amber Garlotte (Lee's Summit, Mo./Eagle Gymnastics), Jacqueline Heath (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech), Bryanna Wong (Parkville, Mo./Edge Gymnastics), and Sandra Blake (Tri-Cities, Wash./Mid-Columbia) finished 6th-10th respectively.

"Again this was the second meet in a row that we started off shaky," said Farden. "We were able to straighten things out though."

The Redhawks moved on to the beam and gymnasts Alison Ezell (Kansas City, Kan./Alpha Omega) and Wong tied for third scoring 9.675. The score was a season-high for Ezell helping the team score 48.075.

On the floor, the Redhawks tallied 48.475 and were led by Blake and Wong who tied for fifth with 9.725. Wong's score was a season-high as was teammate Ezell's eighth place 9.675.

For the second week in a row, Southeast set a new season-high as a team on the vault with a 48.150. Blake led the Redhawks as she placed third with a 9.8. Turner tied her season-high and Garlotte set a new season-high as they tied with a sixth place 9.675.

Grimaldi led the Redhawks in the all-around scoring 38.3 and placing second behind National standout sophomore Adrianne Perry.

"We have to focus on being more consistent out of the blocks and completing all four events strong," Farden said.

All fans are invited to come out and support the Redhawks as they test their consistency at home in Houck Fieldhouse on Saturday, Feb. 17 against No. 25 Brigham Young University starting at 1:00 p.m.
