No. 35 Redhawks Gymnastics Wins at Home

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - (Saturday, February 26, 2005) The Southeast Missouri State gymnastics team made their return to Houck Field House a success as they easily dispatched Wisconsin-La Crosse, 192.725-188.325 in a dual meet Saturday afternoon. The Redhawks (4-5, 2-2 MIC) won all four team events against the Eagles (12-1) and won four individual titles including the all-around giving the Eagles their first dual loss of the season. Tara Boldt (Lakeville, Minn./ T.A.G.S) continued her strong individual performances, winning her fourth all-around title of the season with a season-high score of 39.075. The reigning Midwest Independent Gymnast of the Week captured first place finishes on both the bars and the floor exercises. On the bars she recorded a season-high 9.775 and scored a 9.800.
Senior Katie Bloom (Snellville, Ga./ Gwinnett Gymnastics Center) got the Redhawks started off right, winning the vault with a season-high score of 9.775. Boldt and Lexie Hein (Appleton, Wis./ LaFleur's Gymnastics) tied for second-place with scores of 9.725. Hein's score set a new career-best on the vault. Hein finished third on the bars with a score of 9.625 and freshman Allison Ezell (Kansas City, Kan./ Alpha Omega) tied Hein for third-place honors. Fellow freshman Danyelle Aber (Gurnee, Ill./ Ultimate Gymnastics) finished fourth with a career-best 9.525. The Eagles got their lone individual title with Jennifer Houle winning the beam with a score of 9.875. Boldt finished second with a score of 9.775. Natalie Watts (Pasco, Wash./ Mid Columbia Gymnastics Academy), Hein and Alexis Traylor (St. Charles, Mo./ All American) took the third thru fifth spots respectively. Crystal Eberhardt (Chaska, Minn./ Classic Gymnastics) set a season-high with a 9.800 on the floor to tie Boldt for top-honors. Ezell finished second with a career-high 9.750. Hein finished second in the all-around with a score of 38.750 and Ezell finished third with a score of 38.250. The win gave the Redhawks their eighth-straight victory over the Eagles in as many meetings. The Redhawks will again hit the road as they travel to Columbia, Missouri to face No. 24 Mizzou and Air Force on Friday, March 4 in the Hearnes Center at 7:00 p.m. They will then return home for their last home meet of the season on Sunday, March 6. |
