Women's Gymnastics Falls Short at Corvette Classic

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri State Women's Gymnastics team took last place in the Corvette Classic today played host by Missouri. Missouri captured first with a team score of 195.925 followed by Eastern Michigan (194.600), Texas Woman's (193.425), and Southeast Missouri (191.900).

Southeast senior Amy Cole took third in the all-around with a score of 38.600 following Missouri's Luci Romberg (38.550) and Eastern Michigan's Natalie Hashimoto (39.200). Consistent scores in all events helped Cole earn third in the all-around. Cole tallied a 9.700 on vault, a 9.675 on bars, 9.475 on beam and a 9.750 on floor.

Other Southeast notables include junior Ashley Godwin with a high 9.825 on floor and a 9.775 on bars. First year Tara Boldt had an impressionable floor routine earning her a 9.650. Junior Jacklyn Doebbler posted a pair of 9.725 on the beam and floor.

The Otahkians will meet Eastern Michigan again this week to try and earn back a win. The meet will be Wed., March 5, at 7 p.m. at Houck Fieldhouse.
