Redhawks Gymnastics Splits Tri-Meet at Mizzou

COLUMBIA, Mo. - (Sunday, March 20, 2005) The Southeast Missouri State gymnastics team split it's last regular season meet of the season defeating Air Force 192.325-188.775 before falling to host and No. 24-ranked Missouri 195.750-192.325 Sunday afternoon at the Hearnes Center in Columbia, Missouri.

The Redhawks (6-7, 3-3 MIC) had many top individual performances to wrap-up the season. Senior Katie Bloom (Snellville, Ga./ Gwinnett Gymnastics Center) was the Redhawks top vaulter as she finished tied for fifth with a score of 9.725. Freshman Danyelle Aber (Gurnee, Ill./ Ultimate Gymnastics) set a new career-high with a vault score of 9.625.

Bloom was the top Redhawk on the uneven bars as well as she finished tied for third with a score of 9.725. Tara Boldt (Lakeville, Minn./ T.A.G.S) finished fourth with a score of 9.700.

Boldt followed her strong bar routine with an equally strong balance beam performance. She scored a season-high 9.825 which tied her for third place. Bloom followed with a fourth place (9.800) and fellow senior Alexis Traylor (St. Charles, Mo./ All American) scored a season-high 9.750 to place fifth.

The Redhawks finished the meet with a combined team score of 48.675 on the floor exercises as all six Redhawks scored no less then 9.650.

Boldt again paced the Redhawks with a score of 9.775 which tied her for fourth. Senior Crystal Eberhardt (Chaska, Minn./ Classic Gymnastics) and junior Amanda Grimes (Lone Jack, Mo./ GAGE Gymnastics) each finished tied for fifth with scores of 9.750. Aber set a new career-high with a score of 9.650.
 

 

The Redhawks finished 2-3 in the all-around. Boldt finished second with a score of 38.975 followed by Bloom, who scored a season-high 38.950.

The Redhawks will next compete at the Midwest Independent Conference Championship meet in Denton, Texas on Friday, March 25 before awaiting word on what individuals will compete at the NCAA Regionals in Lincoln, Nebraska.
