Dec. 9, 2004

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - (Thursday, December 9, 2004) The Southeast Missouri State gymnastics team kicked-off their 2005 season afternoon with their annual Black and Red Inter-squad meet in Parker Hall. With the team evenly split it was the Black team that ended up with a close 113.250 to 111.900 victory over the Red team.

Brystol Powelski (Franklin, Wis./ Salto Gymnastics) was the top performer in the meet. She won both the vault and bars routines for the Black team. In the vault her score of 9.700 tied Danyelle Aber (Gurnee, Ill./ Ultimate Gymnastics). Her score of 9.550 on the bars was enough to beat both Mindi Lineweber (Lincoln, Neb./ N.S.G.) and Katie Bloom (Snellvile, Ga./ Gwinnett Gymnastics Center) scores of 9.500.

Tara Boldt (Lakeville, Minn./ T.A.G.S) got the Red team their first event win in the beam. Her score of 9.400 bested Alexis Traylor's (St. Charles, Mo./ All American) 9.200.

Traylor bounced back by winning the floor routine with a 9.700 to give the Black team their third victory in four events.

The Red team kept the meet close despite only winning one event. The Red team was led by Boldt who finished second overall in the all-around to Powelski with a score of 37.500 who also added a second place finish in the floor with a 9.650.

Crystal Eberhardt (Chaska, Minn./ Classic Gymnastics) finished third (9.000) in the beam and Lexie Hein (Appleton, Wis./ LaFleur's Gymnastics) finished tied for fourth in the bars (9.350) to round out the top Red team performers.

Bloom had a solid meet with a third place in the vault (9.600) and a fourth in the floor (9.600) which led to her second place tie in the all-around (37.500).
