Sandra Blake Earns MIC Gymnast Of The Week

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Sophomore Sandra Blake (Tri-Cities, Wash./ Mid Columbia) was named Midwest Independent Conference (MIC) Gymnast of the Week for her performance last week in a dual meet against Kent State University. It is the first award for Blake this season and the second for the Redhawks.

Blake led the Redhawks (5-1, 5-0 MIC) last Saturday as they narrowly lost to the 18th ranked Kent State Golden Flashes 193.150-194,100.

She won her third individual title of the season as she scored a season-high 9.8. On the bars, she tied for second with another season-high score of 9.775 leading the Redhawks to a season-high first place finish of 48.675.

On the beam, Blake tied for fourth with a 9.675 and finished the afternoon on the floor with a 9.5.

Blake's superb performance earned her second place on the all-around with a conference-high 38.750.

The Redhawks next meet will be at the Wisconsin-La Crosse Invite on Friday, February 2nd, with a start time of 6:00 p.m.
