Redhawks Welcome BYU Cougars

Feb. 14, 2007

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. - The Redhawks will host assistant coach Brogan Jacobsen-Evanson's alma mater, Brigham Young University, on Saturday, February 17th, at 1:00 p.m. in Houck Fieldhouse.

Southeast (10-2, 5-0 MIC) has been stellar at home, where they have set the majority of their season-highs including their team-high score of 193.7 against UIC/Centenary.

The Redhawks are focused on churning up steady performances as they look towards their goal of repeating a trip to the NCAA South Central Regional. They are currently 35th nationally and average 192.42. The gymnasts, as a team, lead the MIC on bars, beam and floor as well.

Sophomore Maureen Grimaldi (Kansas City, Mo./Eagle Gymnastics) looks to pace the Redhawks in the home dual meet after a solid, team-leading, all-around score last week. Sandra Blake (Tri-Cities, Wash./Mid Columbia) and Rikara Turner (Hastings, Minn./Tri City Twisters) will also be key factors, as they have been all season, with Turner looking for her third individual title of the season.

The B.Y.U Cougars are currently ranked 23rd nationally and are coming off a big win against Texas Woman's University, 194.55-191.525. The Cougars are led by junior Dayna Smart who is ranked in the top 50 for the all-around.
