Southeast Gymnastics Performs Saturday
Feb. 19, 2004 CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. - Coming off its best performance of the year, the Southeast Missouri State gymnastics team looks to improve its record to 9-2, as it faces Wisconsin-LaCrosse Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. The Otahks scored a 195.350 - the third highest score in school history - and senior Ashley Godwin scored a perfect 10.0 on floor exercise last Saturday against Centenary. Along with scoring just the sixth perfect score in Southeast history, Godwin scored a 9.925 on the uneven parallel bars to place her first all-time in that event. She now holds first, or a tie for first, in every category except vault. As a team, the Otahkians also tied the school record on the floor exercise with a score of 49.500 (a perfect score would be 50). Southeast also had its best performance on vault, scoring a season-high 48.625. Against Centenary, eight performers set personal bests, including freshman Brystol Powelski, who won the vault competition with a personal best 9.800 and had a new personal high on bars with a 9.825.
Southeast will take on Wisconsin-Lacrosse at 1 p.m. Saturday at Houck Field House. It will be the fourth of only five home meets this year.
