Gymnasts Head To Denton, Texas For Rematch

Feb. 28, 2007

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - (2/28/07) The Redhawks will travel to Denton, Texas on Saturday, March 10th to face the Texas Woman's University Pioneers at 6:00 p.m.

Southeast (11-3, 6-0) is coming off a 193.475-192.5 win against the Pioneers in which freshman standout Rikara Turner (Hastings, Minn./Tri City Twisters) captured her third all-around of the season and set three season-highs. Freshman Amber Garlotte (Lee's Summitt, Mo./Eagles Gymnastics) also had an outstanding meet as she set three new season-highs on the vault, beam and all-around. Garlotte's all-around performance was good enough for second place, her highest finish of the season.

The Redhawks will again look to score a win against Texas Woman's and increase their RQS points to achieve a repeat trip to the south central regionals.

Texas Woman's University (7-7), defending MIC and USAG National Champions, are set to try and stop the advances of the Redhawks.

The Pioneers are led by junior Nicole Poling and senior Courtney Arno. Poling tied with Turner for the individual title on vault last weekend and placed fourth on the all-around. Arno took the individual title on the bars and tallied the second best score of her team on beam.
