Southeast Gymnastics to Avenge Eastern Michigan

March 4, 2003

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (March 4, 2003) - The Southeast Missouri State University gymnastics squad (4-8) will play host to the Eagles of Eastern Michigan (5-7) this Wednesday, March 5. The meet will begin at 7 p.m. at Houck Fieldhouse.

Southeast is currently ranked 51st in the nation with a total season average of 192.310. Junior Ashley Godwin is currently ranked 61st in the nation with an all-around season average of 38.680. The Otahkians are ranked 11th in the 12 team South Central Region.

The Otahkians will seek their revenge on the Eagles, who recently edged Southeast at the Corvette Classic last weekend. Eastern Michigan took second while Southeast took fourth. The Eagles are currently ranked 48th nationally with a total season average of 192.455. Natalie Hashimoto ranks 69th nationally in the all-around with a season average of 38.640.

"We should compete better than we did on Sunday because we are traditionally strong at home, we're back in the rhythm of competing after having an entire week off before competing at Mizzou, and they feel the need to redeem themselves," said Southeast head coach Patty Stotzheim.
