Redhawks Gymnastics Hit the Road to Face In-State Rival No. 19 Missouri

March 3, 2005

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. (Thursday, March 3, 2005) The 36th-ranked Redhawks gymnastics team will travel north to Columbia, Missouri to face in-state rival Missouri and Air Force in a non-conference tri-meet in the Hearnes Center on Friday, March 4 at 7:00 p.m. Host Missouri is currently ranked 19th nationally.

The Redhawks (4-5, 2-2 MIC) look to break their current losing streak to the Tigers. Last season vs a then 15th-ranked Tigers team Southeast scored an outstanding 194.300 team score--the 10th highest in school history. However Mizzou scored a 196.500 to hold on for the victory.

In that dual senior Katie Bloom scored a 9.875 on the vault, which not only was a personal best, but ranks as the sixth best score in school history. Fellow senior Alexis Traylor won the floor with an outstanding 9.925 routine--her highest score in that event ever, and the fifth best in school history. Tara Boldt scored a 9.900 on the beam, fifth best ever at Southeast. Boldt also won the all-around competition with the ninth best score in Southeast history--39.150.

Mizzou leads the all-time series vs the Redhawks 17-8. The Redhawks hold the advantage over the Falcons 8-1.

On Sunday, March 6 the Redhawks return home for their final home meet of the season. Seniors Traylor, Bloom and Crystal Eberhardt will be honored before the game.
