Southeast Gymnastics Seek to Avenge Redbirds

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri State University gymnastics squad (5-8) will travel to Normal, Ill. on March 17 to compete against the Illinois State Redbirds (5-8). The meet will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Horton Fieldhouse.

Southeast is coming off of a tough loss to the Kentucky WildKats and the Denver Pioneers. Southeast is currently ranked 52nd nationally with a team average of 192.205. Junior, Ashley Godwin is ranked 56th nationally with an all-around average of 38.955.

The Illinois State Redbirds have a season record of five wins and eight loses. One of the wins was against the Otahkians at home earlier this season. The Redbirds edged the Otahks with a score of 192.850 to 192.575. The Redbirds are currently ranked 45th nationally with an average team score of 193.305. Denise Houda, an all-around competitor, is 89th nationally with an all-around average of 38.590. Beth Larson coaches the Redbirds.

The Otahkians will be at home this Friday, March 21. They will take on Winona State University at 7:00 p.m. at Houck Fieldhouse.
