March 16, 2007

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - (Thursday, March 15, 2007) Freshman Rikara Turner (Hastings, Minn./Twin City Twisters) earned her second Midwest Independent Conference Gymnast of the Week Title after a stellar meet in Denton, Texas on Saturday evening.

Turner led the Redhawks in a crowded field against Kentucky, Bowling Green and TWU as she finished the all-around with a career-high 38.850. Her outstanding all-around score was beefed up from the career-highs she set on vault (9.750) and bars (9.775).

Her career-high set on bars paced the Redhawks as their bars total of 48.850 was placed on the All-Time Records list. Turner also had an excellent showing on the floor as she scored a 9.7.

On Tuesday night, Turner had another solid performance as she finished second on the vault with a 9.650 and placed second on the all-around.

The Redhaws next meet will be in Shreveport, La. on Saturday, March 17 as they face the Centenary Ladies at 4:00p.m.
