Redhawks Look to Capture First Midwest Independent Conference Title

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. (Thursday, March 24, 2005) The Southeast Missouri State gymnastics team heads to Denton, Texas for the Midwest Independent ConferenceChampionship meet hosted by Texas Women's University at Kitty Magee Arena on Friday, March 25. The Redhawks (6-8, 3-3 MIC) will face conference foes Illinois-Chicago, Illinois State, Centenary and Texas Women's University.

Last season the Redhawks finished second behind Illinois-Chicago in Normal, Illinois. Tara Boldt was the lone conference champion when she tied for first on the balance beam with a score of 9.875. Joining Boldt with all-conference honors included Ashley Godwin and Alexis Traylor. Godwin finished second for the all-around title and Traylor finished fourth in the floor exercises. Boldt finished fourth in the all-around.

Illinois-Chicago is again favored to capture the MIC crown this season, however the Redhawks have had recent success against the Flames.
