Four Southeast Gymnasts Qualify For South Central Regional

April 3, 2007

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. - (Tuesday, April 3, 2007) The outstanding performances by the Redhawks has earned four gymnasts a chance to participate in the South Central Regional which will be held on Saturday, April 14, in Tucson, Ariz.

"Were proud of our athletes moving on to the NCAA's", said head coach Tom Farden. We qualified four of our seven athletes that have been in our rotation of lineups since the season started."

Southeast is sending the most gymnasts to the regional in the history of the program outside of when the gymnasts have gone as a team. This record shows the level of quality that the program has achieved.

Freshman Jena Nguyen (Sioux Falls, S.D./All-American) will be competing on the balance beam and is an alternate on the floor. Nguyen had an RQS of 9.77 on the beam and a 9.755 on floor.

Sophomore Sandra Blake (Tri-Cities, Wash./Mid Columbia), MIC Newcomer of the Year Rikara Turner (Hastings, Minn./Twin City Twisters) and freshman Bryanna Wong (Parkville, Mo./Edge Gymnastics) will represent Southeast on the all-around.

"We just have to focus on the individuals going to Arizona," said Farden. "And start reloading for next year."
