Stotzheim Resigns as Gymnastics Coach at Southeast

April 16, 2003

CAPE GIRARDEAU- Patty Stotzheim, who just completed her fourth year as women's gymnastics coach at Southeast Missouri State University, has announced her resignation, effective at the end of the school year.

Stotzheim has been accepted by the Hamline University law school in St. Paul, Minn. "I certainly have mixed feelings," she said. "I am excited about getting started on my law degree, but I will miss the association with the athletes."

A 1991 graduate of Hamline, Stotzheim was gymnastics coach at Hamline for six seasons prior to becoming head coach at Southeast.

At Southeast, Stotzheim was 32-50 and had five individuals qualify for NCAA Regionals including Ashley Godwin from this year's squad that was 8-13 including a win over Illinois at Houck Field House.

"We appreciate Coach Stotzheim's dedication and hard work and wish her well," said Cindy Gannon, senior woman administrator at Southeast. "She has rebuilt our gymnastics program and is leaving it in good shape for her successor. We will conduct a national search for a new gymnastics coach."
