Sandra Blake Captures CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Accolades

May 24, 2007

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State sophomore gymnast Sandra Blake (Kennewick, Wash.) was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team for District 7 as an at-large selection today. The teams were voted on by members of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

An accounting major, Blake has maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average in her first two seasons at Southeast. She helped the Redhawks post a third-place finish at the Midwest Independent Conference (MIC) Championships in March, while producing top ten finished in the vault and floor exercise at the NCAA South Central Regional last month. Blake earned First Team All-MIC honors in the vault and all-around along with claiming second team accolades in the uneven bars and the floor.

In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Blake was placed on the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll and captured National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches (NACGC) Scholar Athlete honors during the 2006-07 school year.

Blake is now eligible for CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America honors, which will be announced on May 30.
