Redhawks Gymnastics Releases 2007 Schedule

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - (Monday, October 23, 2006) Southeast Gymnastics released their schedule for the 2007 season this week. The Redhawks open up the season with an Intra-Squad meet in Parker on Dec. 7 at 5 p.m.and it will be "Meet the Team Night". The Redhawks will then benefit from a month of practice before they open up the regular season on January 13 against Midwest Independent Conference rivals Illinois-Chicago and Centenary at Houck Fieldhouse.

The Redhawks will also host four more home meets during the year, highlighted by matchups against the Kent State Golden Flashes on Jan. 27 and the Brigham Young Cougars on Feb. 17.

The schedule also takes the Redhawks on the road for six meets including a visit to the Missouri Tigers (Feb. 9) and a meet at the University of Arkansas featuring the Razorbacks, Missouri, and Texas Woman's (Mar. 23). In conference meets, the Redhawks travel to Normal, Ill. (Jan. 19), Denton, Texas (Mar. 10), and Shreveport, La. (Mar. 17). The meet in Denton will include non-conference opponents Bowling Green and Kentucky. The Redhawks also travel to LaCrosse, Wis. (Feb. 2) to compete in the University of LaCrosse Invitational.

The MIC Championship will take place in Chicago, Illinois on March 31 at a time to be determined. The NCAA Regionals get under way on April 14th and sites and times are still to be determined.

The Redhawks are led by Coach Tom Farden, who is entering his fourth season. He is assisted by Brogan Evanson in her second season and student assistant Josh Houseman entering his first season. The Redhawks return eight gymnasts from last season's squad in addition to adding six freshman to the team.

"Although we are a little inexperienced in collegiate competition, I am confident that we will still have a solid season", Coach Farden on the outlook for the 2007 season.
